A traditionally tendered project with the full range of Client consultants the City Learning Centre a (Government initiative) was the first of its type in the country to specialise in IT education.

The building itself comprised mass fill isolated pit foundations with reinforced concrete ringbeams, insitu concrete ground floor slab, structural steel frame with a curved roof and cantilevered eaves, precast concrete 1st floor construction, the external envelope was a combination of metal cladding, brick & blockwork housing aluminium windows & doors with integral shutters for security. Internally we constructed a circular staircase and installed a lift to access the 1st floor. Mechanical & electrical installations formed a considerable element with data systems, air handling & climate control being of vital importance, sliding / folding acoustic partitions were utilised to provide maximum space flexibility. Modular suspended & MF ceilings, carpet & vinyl flooring, painted plastered walls provided the internal finishes.

New mains services and a separate drainage system were installed as well as a new car park and access route as part of the external works programme.
