We have had a permanent site presence at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital undertaking both reactive maintenance and small works projects in a ‘live’ hospital environment for over 10 years. We provide a comprehensive building service to the Site Facilities Manager Lorne Stewart Plc (LS) acting under their direction and responding to their helpdesk system on a day to day basis and also in costing individual small works projects for the various departments within the hospital.
Due to the sensitive nature of the environment our we ensure that our supervisors and site operatives are fully conversant with the stringent health & safety requirements of each individual work area and that there is a close and consistent liaison with the hospital departmental supervisors during the currency of the works in order to keep any disruption to staff & patients down to a minimum.
Typical examples of the types of work undertaken are as follows:
- X-Ray Room 1 G392 Refurbishment Works: Value £31,213.00
This project originated from the need to reconfigure one of the existing x-ray rooms to accommodate a new scanner installation within a working department. - Resurfacing of the Site Access Roads: Value £89,968.00
Due to the very busy nature of the roads and the restricted amount of parking space the works could only be carried out over six weekends. We liaised closely with the Client in terms of giving adequate notice to staff and the public that various areas would be closed for the weekend periods, we also advised the local police, fire brigade & ambulance services in case of any emergency access requirements. - Fire Door Replacement: Value £14,578.00
Project comprised the upgrade of the existing ward doors to 1hr fire rating. Whilst the content of the works was relatively straightforward the location, being the principal access points to the wards, provided unique problems which we had to overcome.
To minimise disruption within the public areas, we surveyed all of the structural openings and had new door & frame sets prefabricated, decorated & fitted with ironmongery so when the existing door & frame was removed the new replacement was an instant fit. We liaised with the individual wards to ensure that the works were undertaken during their quietest periods which often meant works being carried out of a evening or weekends
